Ten Myrtle Beach Wedding Ideas That Will Blow Your Guests Away

Planning a wedding can be one of the most fun things you ever do and it can also be one of the most stressful things you do. The best advice I was given when planning my wedding in Myrtle Beach was to just focus on one or two things and go from there. The rest will fall into place.

With Pinterest boards and wedding forums galore, it can be hard to zero in on what it is you want. We're here to help with some super cool ideas for your beach wedding. These ideas almost make me want to plan my wedding all over again. Almost.

Everything Seersucker

Everything Seersucker

Classic seersucker is so very Southern and just perfect for a wedding at the beach. Look for seersucker suits for your groom and his men or find a dress for your gals that they could easily wear again. Got a larger budget? Look into linens for your tables to tie it all together. Don't forget the ring bearer attire. Nothing is cuter than a little one in seersucker! Here's an awesome blog with attire for your guys.

Southern charm

Southern charm

Southern touches seem to be a theme this year and they're perfect for a wedding in Myrtle Beach. Use customizable mason jars as drinking glasses or dye them to match your decor and use them for centerpieces or flower vases along your altars. Other cute Southern touches include magnolias, parasols for your maids, touches of sawgrass and flip flops or cowboy boots. Can you get any cuter than this “Thanks y'all” sign?! Bonus- use photos with that for your thank you notes!

Seashells

Seashells

What makes the most sense to use when you're at the beach? They make awesome (and fairly cheap) place cards, table decorations and add details to your invitations and stationery. Your wedding cake is a great time to go wild with a theme. Most bakeries can use the real deal or make their own out of fondant or sugar. These cakes from Croissants Bistro and Bakery in Myrtle Beach are adorable! Almost all of the beachware stores in town sell anything from starfish to conch shells in huge bins so you can stock up. Sea glass is another great touch for table decor. I used bags of green and blue for just a pop of color. I've also seen adorable shell pins to use for your hair or your bridal party's manes.

Water

Water

We're at the beach so use the water to your advantage. Fill up vases for your centerpiece (you probably don't want ocean water for this) and add floating candles, goldfish or submerged flowers. Colored stones or beads would look great and add a touch of your signature color to your decor. I've also read about doing a Water Ceremony during the wedding where each person pours in a different color to create a new color specific to them.

Awesome Favors

Awesome Favors

Break the norm and give your guests something they'll actually use. Just because it came from your wedding doesn't mean they want it (no offense, y'all!) I went to a late summer wedding recently and got to make my own s'mores! Favors I've kept around are mini-bottles of Firefly Sweet Tea flavored vodka, drink coasters, custom Koozies and local salt water taffy. Trust me, no one will be mad if you offer something to eat other than wedding cake too – like these adorable starfish-shaped cookies!

Golf

Golf

Myrtle Beach has been called the seaside golf capital of the world so take full advantage of the greens around town. Many courses have amazing clubhouses to use for receptions and ceremonies. Ride to the ceremony location on a golf cart with your dad or make it your getaway car at the end of the night. Pose near your favorite water feature for some incredible photos and get a few cool ring shots on top of a golf tee or ball. We have nearly 100 golf courses on the Grand Strand so you're bound to find one that will create the perfect setting. Click here to see some adorable golf themed ideas.

If you can't find somewhere cool to take pictures, you're not looking. Pretty much any location in Myrtle Beach is begging for a photo shoot. Some recent ones we've seen include shots along the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk with the arcade and Skywheel, landmarks along Main Street in North Myrtle Beach and Huntington Beach State Park. Have some fun with props like beach balls and sunglasses or opt for a “Trash the Dress” session in the ocean! Just do a Pinterest search for Myrtle Beach Wedding Photos and you'll get tons of results. Another cool way to use photos is to find numbers around town, frame them and Voila! you have customized table numbers.

Color Your Wedding World

Color Your Wedding World

Everyone has opinions on “appropriate” wedding colors based on the season, venue, time of day, etc. Those people can deal with it because this is the time to go crazy! Do you love lime green? Good because it looks awesome against the water. Pick a color that you love and stick with it. Add small details to your invitations, decor, dresses, whatever and make it your own. Popular color schemes at the beach include coral and turquoise, blues and greens, purple and teal and the list goes on. Remember, these are your memories and your photos. Do what you love. This site has some really cool color combos for you to check out.

Alternative bouquets

Alternative bouquets

Your bridal bouquet is one way to think outside the box – especially when you're throwing a wedding in Myrtle Beach. While flowers are beautiful there are some unique options to look at that may last you longer than just a few hours. Check out some made from seashells, starfish or even sawgrass. A good friend of mine had her bouquets made from sweetgrass straight out of the low country. Go all out with seashell bouquets like these that will last you a lifetime.

Food

Food

Myrtle Beach is home to over 1,000 restaurants. You can bet that tons of them would be willing to help cater a wedding! There's no rule that you have to serve one fish, one chicken and one steak dish. Spice things up and impress your guests with a very unconventional menu. Some suggestions include Southern BBQ, a Low Country Boil, a S'mores bar, easy-to-eat skewers, funnel cakes, Krispy Kreme donuts, a hot dog bar or local blue crabs (splurge alert). Check out these restaurants and sort by cuisine to see if they can cater to your group.
