Peaches Corner face-lift nearly complete

Peaches Corner, a Myrtle Beach institution, is sporting a fresh, new look — with a retro feel — for 2012.

The restaurant, located at the corner of Ninth Avenue North and Ocean Boulevard, has been in business since 1937. The owners — Briggs and Blair Dickerson — have seen the area change in recent years with the closing of the Pavilion and the construction of the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk.

“Peaches has been a Myrtle Beach landmark for 75 years and we want to be around for another 75,” Briggs Dickerson told MyrtleBeach.com in December 2011. “It's going to look brand-new but keep that old-school Myrtle Beach feel.”

Outside renovations appear to be nearly done, and the restaurant plans to re-open Feb. 3 with a remodeled interior, according to their Facebook page.

In addition to the new look, Peaches Corner plans a 75th anniversary party for spring.
