New restaurant opens at Captain’s Quarters Resort

A new restaurant at the popular Captain’s Quarters Resort opened June 30, just in time for the Fourth of July holiday.

The MyrtleBeach.com crew got a sneak peak of the new Loco Gecko eatery on Friday night at the soft opening, and we were impressed with the menu selections and laid-back beach vibe.

Our table sampled several food items, including the Pizza Burger (with pepperoni, mozzarella and marinara served on a garlic pizza roll), Seafood Marinara pizza (shrimp, scallops and crab meat with marinara, mozzarella and Parmesan cheese) and hot wings. The food went fast and was well-received by our hungry bunch.

Other tasty treats featured on the extensive menu include the Cajun Fried Corn on the Cob appetizer (dusted with seasoning and flour and then deep fried), Gecko Macho Nachos (served with melted cheese, chili, guacamole and sour cream), a variety of seafood baskets and a kids’ menu. Burgers are in the $9-10 range while pizzas run around $10 for a 7-inch and $13+ for a 16-inch.

The restaurant offers a relaxed, beachy atmosphere with a color-changing bar and a mosaic floor with fun beach shots and logos. It reminded me of a brighter version of the popular River City Cafe eateries without the license plates and peanut shells.

Outdoor seating is available with cool misting fans to help visitors beat the heat while they grab a bite.

Loco Gecko is open daily from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. The full menu is served until 10 p.m., and a late-night menu is featured after 10. The restaurant will feature live music and other entertainment throughout the week.

Loco Gecko is located at 805 S. Ocean Blvd. in Myrtle Beach.
