A romantic, candle-lit dinner, a delicious albeit expensive dish and bottle of wine on the table and the sounds of sweet, soft music … and a few screaming children turning the restaurant into a de facto day care center.
Most of us have been on both sides of the stares, although I don't let mine yell and throw semi-chewed food like it's feeding time at Monkeyland. The polite thing to do is to take them outside, or don't bring them in the first place.
Sounds simple, but you can't call up the babysitter anytime you want to go out to eat. Sometimes you have to take the kids somewhere they can find something they like to eat, and burn off some of the calories by doing something fun. Fun Warehouse Family Fun Center
Rainy days in Myrtle Beach don’t have to be a bummer at the Fun Warehouse, which offers plenty of fun and food for kids and the chance to score some cool-parent points for the adults.
Fun Warehouse offers a full-sized skating rink, laser tag, a state-of-the-art arcade, inflatables and more, giving your rug rats a place to roll, shoot, play and bounce without bouncing off the walls in the house.
Fun Warehouse offers specific rates for each activities, but the best deal is the $25 all-inclusive pass called “The Bomb,” featuring unlimited laser tag and skating, including basic skate rental, a slice of pizza and a drink, plus a $5 game card for the arcade. Not a bad price to pay to keep the kids occupied on a rainy day.
Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament

Take the entire family on a trip back in time for an exciting evening of dinner and an action-packed show from the Middle Ages that will keep the kids on the edges of their seats.
Pass through the castle gates into the 11th century for daring displays of horsemanship, falconry and sword fighting, all perfomed by Medieval Times’ knights. Children can dine on a four-course meal fit for a king, and meet His Royal Majesty and the royal court in person. It’s a great night of food and fun for the whole family.
Surf's Up Family Fun Center
After closing a few years ago, this Carolina Forest restaurant/game room has re-opened under new management. It’s a good thing too because this place was a popular one among children.
The all-you-can-eat pizza buffet also features a pasta, salad and dessert bar so the kids can fill up before the real main course – the arcade. It features hundreds of games, but that’s only part of the fun at Surf’s Up.
Featuring the largest laser tag facility in Myrtle Beach, a 30-foot rock-climbing wall and a 1,200-square foot soft play area, Surf’s Up has plenty of activities to let the little ones burn off some energy before bedtime.
Pirates Voyage Fun, Feast & Adventure

This new Dolly Parton-owned dinner show replaces the old Dixie Stampede and brings a production to the watery stage that is sure to capture every kid’s attention and, pardon the pirate pun, keep their booty on the edge of their seat.
Set on the high seas aboard a pair of authentic-looking ships floating atop 15 feet of water that serves as the stage, Pirates Voyage puts on a first-class performance that keeps the kids entertained while they dine on a five-course pirate-themed feast.
Kids can even get into the act as costumed performers swing from ropes into the crowd and interact with the audience, but parents are the ones who will get credit for discovering this treasure. One word of warning: The show is rated “Arrrr!” (Sorry, couldn’t resist.)

The name says it all to get kids to the table – “pizza” and “game.” This Restaurant Row hot spot has both in abundant supply, making it the perfect place for children and kids at heart.
Featuring high-tech interactive games for the youngsters and old-school games like Skee Ball for grown-ups, the Game Zone has plenty to keep you entertained while your kids’ personal pizza is made to their specifications. For $10.99 each child can get an 8-inch pizza with their favorite topping plus a $5 game card for the arcade.
The Game Zone also offers chicken nuggets, wings, PBJ and ziti on the kids’ menu, and adults can choose from subs, salads and pasta dishes. The grown-ups also can step into the Ultimate Sports Bar for drinks while the catch up on the scores on one of the many big-screen TVs. This place will bring out the kid in everyone.
