It's a night of sugar-coated fun… if you're a kid. But what about us former trick-or-treaters? Just because we're a little long in the tooth doesn't mean we don't have a sweet tooth.
Surely we're more deserving than a bunch of brats in ski masks with pillow cases. A treat at the beach may be just the trick. Here are the top five spots to spoil your supper on the Grand Strand:
Canipes Chocolates & Candies
Headquartered in nearby Longs, SC, local candy-lovers can get sweet treats fresh from the oven at four locations on the Strand – Canipes Chocolates at Coastal Grand Mall and The Market Common, and Wee R Sweetz at Barefoot Landing at Broadway at the Beach.
This sugar-covered candyland is famous for creative concoctions such as butter cream eggs, alligator-shaped chocolates and goodies drenched in milk chocolate, including Oreos, Twinkies and even jalapeno peppers for some sweet heat.
Croissants Bakery Cafe
You can pack on a few pounds just by walking past this place. The smell of sweet baked treats escapes the doors and lures unsuspecting treat lovers to the calorie-packed bakery counter.

Yes, the Strand is filled with doughnut huts (the initials DD and KK come to mind) but it’s worth driving past a few of the national chains to find the Donut Man in downtown Myrtle Beach.
Open 24 hours, this multi-restaurant establishment packs them in for the hot, fresh doughnuts, served with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate, of course. Also offering other sweets and treats, the Donut Man majors in the Food Dude’s favorite – the raspberry-filled, powdered sugar-covered creations.
It'Sugar
This Broadway at the Beach candy store is wall to wall with all kinds of sweets – M&Ms, Jelly Bellies, Jaw Breakers and Gummy Bears, Worms and every other kind of animal on the planet. It’s like taking a tour of the Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory without all the dangerous pitfalls.
You’ll feel like a kid in a candy store going through the brightly colored and heavily sugared bins and scooping your favorites into a plastic bag. Candy is sold by the pound, so you can load up and settle up on the scales on the way out the door.
Kirk's 1890 Ice Cream Parlor
OK, so it’s a little chilly out for ice cream. But there’s no better treat at the beach than the frozen variety, and Kirk’s has the goods.
Designed like an old-timey soda parlor, Kirk’s offers up to 40 flavors of ice cream (take that, Baskin Robbins) with all the toppings and flavors. Pile it high on a freshly made waffle cone, or blend it up for a delicious shake. You can’t go wrong at Kirk’s in any kind of weather.
