Events Rundown: January 31- February 6, 2012

Myrtle Beach has always been considered a very family-friendly city and many of our events this week are geared towards families. Check out a theater show or one of the great events at the art museum. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s ahead this week. Mommy (or Daddy) & Me Art Classes

The Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum is holding art classes for tots and their parents once a month. This Thursday at 10 a.m. join them for a lesson in Line Variety Paintings. The class is open for ages 3-4 and provides hands on fun. Classes are $5 for non-members or free with a family membership. Reservations are required.

Snowbird Social at Tommy Bahama Restuarant & Bar

If you’re a Snowbird in town for the winter, don’t miss the Snowbird Social this Thursday at Tommy Bahama Restaurant & Bar. The restaurant will serve up a fabulous lunch followed by dessert and coffee in an apartment overlooking The Market Common and a movie at Grand 14. The price is $15 per person plus tax and gratuity. The event will start at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Good Vibrations

The Carolina Opry will roll out the 2012 season of Good Vibrations this week in Myrtle Beach. The show features the very best songs from the 60s, 70s and 80s with special effects and tons of groovy costumes. See the show that’s fun for the whole family. Good Vibrations will be performed this Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Free Family Day for the Community

To kick off their 15th anniversary the art museum is holding a Free Family Day for the Community. The event will showcase some of the top highlights from years past and a bevy of activities. They’ll also serve up Southern treats from Croissants Bistro and Bakery on their Tea Porch. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, February 4.

The Carolina Opry Show

The legendary Carolina Opry Show is the winner of every major South Carolina tourism award. The show includes dance numbers, a variety of music, comedy and much, much more. It’s updated each year so no two years are exactly the same. Performances will be held Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday this week.
