Events Rundown: January 24-30, 2012

Brookgreen Gardens hosts tours of their “Silent Cities” on their new Trekker. The two-hour tour will take you down back roads to explore cemeteries and former slaves’ and plantation owners’ graveyards. Tickets are $15 in addition to garden admission. Tours through Brookgreen’s Silent Cities are held every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday at 12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. through March 1.
Comedy Cabana has a special event going on this week featuring Jimmie “JJ” Walker. His hit catchphrase “Dyn-o-mite” spread around like wildfire. He was named “Comedian of the Decade” by Time Magazine in the 1970s and continues to create laughs everywhere he goes. Catch him live this Thursday-Saturday at Comedy Cabana, Myrtle Beach’s only five-star comedy club. Tickets are $20.
If you’ve seen One The Show at the Alabama Theatre then you’ll recognize the name Ricky Mokel. He’s the comedian and often steals the show with his hilarious antics. This Saturday is your chance to see the Ricky Mokel Comedy Special Starring Grant Turner. The comedy show is fun for all ages and promises tons of belly laughs. He will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Alabama Theatre.
The Carolina Opry Show is back for its 2012 season in Myrtle Beach. The show that’s won countless awards features everything from singing and dancing to amazing cloggers and comedy acts. The show is updated each year with new music and comedy segments so no year is the same. See the show guests have called “the best show ever seen.”
All newly engaged couples that are interested in getting married in Myrtle Beach should make a pit stop at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center for The Wedding Showcase. Florists, stationery experts, wedding venues, bakeries and all types of vendors will be at this comprehensive wedding show to help plan your special day. The Wedding Showcase will be held from 1-5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $9 at the door.
