Events Rundown: December 20-26, 2011
Merry Christmas from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina! We’re all buzzing with excitement and there’s lots to do up and down the Grand Strand to celebrate the holidays. Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland, Myrtle Beach’s newest (and only) drive-through LED light show, is packed with holiday spirit and fun. Pack your family in the car and head down to Pelican Stadium’s parking lot to see this amazing light show, perfectly synchronized to your favorite holiday songs. The show opens every night at 6 p.m.
The Palace Theatre’s popular holiday show, Christmas on Ice, is wrapping up its 2011 season. See world class figure skaters perform jumps, twists and turns on the ice rink on-stage while talented vocalists belt out classic Christmas tunes. The man in red even pays a visit to the stage. The show will be performed this Tuesday-Friday of this week and next week from December 26-31.
Ripley’s Aquarium at Broadway at the Beach continues with its amazing display of Christmas trees during their Festival of Trees. See a tree decorated to represent each of the 50 states and many more while you tour through the amazing displays of aquatic life. The South Carolina tree measures over 18 feet tall! The aquarium is open 365 days a year.
The Carolina Opry Special is filled with Christmas spirit and is the perfect way to celebrate the holidays in Myrtle Beach. Catch amazing superstars like Moses Braxton, Nathan Herron and Tangena Church plus the popular clogging group All That perform. There’s even a horse-drawn carriage that takes the stage! Shows will be held on Wednesday and next week from December 26- January 2.
Alabama Theatre proudly offers tickets to their award-winning production, The South’s Grandest Christmas Show. Ricky Mokel’s hilarious comic act serves as the emcee of the show while the veteran performers sing and dance their hearts out. Rudolph and Santa Claus also make appearances in the holiday show. The show offers performances this week from Tuesday-Friday and next week from December 26-31.
Legends in Concert will celebrate its first Christmas at their brand new Broadway at the Beach location this year. This week’s legends include Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, Liberace, Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly. Shows will be held Tuesday and Wednesday and next week they’ll add Tim McGraw to that list from December 26-31.
