Blue skies await as Hurricane Earl passes to the north of Myrtle Beach
Weekend weather forecasts for Myrtle Beach look amazing as Hurricane Earl (hopefully) sails by. The crisp, blue skies will move in after the storm heads north and leave us with the gorgeous crashing waves the surfers will love! The waves in Myrtle Beach will start to pick up as Hurricane Earl moves northbound and passes North Carolina by early Friday. Highs in the upper 80s with low humidity will make it one of the best weather weekends this season!
Village Surf Shop’s owner and surfboard builder, Kelly Richards, is excited for the potential business storms bring to him. Last year during one forecast storm, he saw folks he hadn’t seen in over ten years back in his store looking at surfboards. Richards said that he thinks this storm “will run up the coast and begin producing waves tomorrow. We should have good surf at least through Saturday and then the winds will head offshore.” Richards suggested the best places for surfing along the Myrtle Beach and Grand Strand will be those “facing south towards the winds.”
His spots for the best waves in Myrtle Beach are Dunes Cove, Garden City Point and Pawleys Island. Whether the storm makes landfall or not, we are in for some exciting wave activity on the Grand Strand. The weather will be perfect for lounging on the beaches near Myrtle Beach hotels and the surfers can provide some free entertainment. If you’re swimming in the water, be sure to look out for surfers. Surfers- be aware of swimmers and other surfers around too! It’s important to always be aware of your surroundings in choppy waters. Keep checking back with MyrtleBeach.com for Hurricane Earl updates as we get them!
