Bandito’s Restaurant & Cantina in Myrtle Beach Offers Good Food & Great Selections

Bandito’s Restaurant & Cantina, an oceanfront Mexican eatery, opened in August in Myrtle Beach after much anticipation.

Two coworkers and I tried the restaurant for lunch recently, and while it was a gloomy day outside, we still had an amazing view of the ocean and massive outside patio from our unique table by the window.

The huge stucco building, which will soon be connected by an extension to the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, has high ceilings and wood floors with huge windows to highlight the view of the beach.

Our group started off with complimentary tortilla chips dusted with delicious spices served with homemade salsa. The salsa was delicious and it’s perfect for any cilantro lovers. Appetizers included enormous orders of nachos (ordered by the table next to us), Grouper Wings and “Stupid Hot Wings” which require you to sign a waiver to try to down eight of these in less than five minutes. A few of my co-workers tried this one afternoon and let’s just say, no one came back a winner.

I ordered the Green Enchiladas with pulled chicken in adobo and tomatillo sauce ($11.95). They came covered in plenty of melted cheese with plenty of cilantro and diced white onions with a side of black beans and yellow rice. My other friends both had the overstuffed burritos served with taco beef or chicken with salsa verde ($13.95) which looked equally as tasty and came smothered in melted queso.  All three of us enjoyed our meal- each with its own unique flavor combinations! My only complaint was that my dish wasn’t as piping-hot as I would have liked.

Bandito’s serves up tons of great dishes with a twist and recently added a long list of lunch options. Take your pick from either extensive menu that includes soups, salads, tortas, burgers, quesadillas, Mexican classics and even seafood selections like Shrimp & Grits Bandito’s Style ($17.95). The restaurant offers many vegetarian options including vegetarian enchiladas and quesadillas, grilled Portobello mushroom tacos and a Vegan Guadalajaran.  Have no fear, they offer an extensive drink menu with ten different margaritas and more than 100 different tequila selections.

Bandito’s hosts live music on the outdoor patio with unbeatable views of the ocean. It’s a great spot to grab a bite to eat with friends or to impress those out of town visitors that pop in once in awhile. The restaurant is located at 1410 North Ocean Boulevard and is open at 11 a.m. daily.
