Description
About Myrtle Beach State Park

Hidden among the Grand Strand’s many manmade attractions rests a small stretch South Carolina coast that highlights the area’s natural beauty at Myrtle Beach State Park.

Located on the southern end of the Myrtle Beach city limits, this 312-acre preserve features beaches and a maritime forest untouched by human development, as well as modern conveniences like a campground, a nature center and a fishing pier to make your visit more enjoyable.

For a small admission fee ($8 for adults, $5 for seniors, $4 for children ages 6-15, free for ages 5 and under), visitors have access to many outdoor activities and facilities that are fun for the whole family. Oceanfront picnic shelters, hiking trails and playground equipment are available, and several beach accesses give guests plenty of room to stretch out in the sand.

Myrtle Beach State Park is also a popular fishing spot for local and visiting anglers looking to catch king and spanish mackerel, whiting, trout, spot, flounder, drum and blue. Featuring a bait shop that has all your fishing needs, including bait, rods and reels and information about which fish are biting, Myrtle Beach State Park Fishing Pier is known for reeling in big ones.

The nature center is a great place for families to learn more about the natural history of the area. The native wetlands and woodlands are home to a wide variety of animals and plant species, all of which can be seen throughout the park. See alligators, crabs, grey squirrels and more in their natural environment, and don’t be surprised to spot a pod of dolphins just off the coast.

Looking for the ultimate outdoor experience? Camp out under the twisting live oaks and towering pines at the campground, or stay at one of the on-site cabins. Guests have access to all the park has to offer while being only a short drive from some of the Strand’s top attractions, such as Market Common, the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Broadway at the Beach.
